  • DGUV/TÜV certified valves with spool monitoring - Fully CE-Compliant
Deep Drawing Presses (H-Frame)

Deep Drawing Presses (H-Frame)

Rigid frame construction and ram guidance for high stability under heavy loads. Engineered for a wide variety of forming applications and deep drawing. Manufactured per order, according to customer requirements with custom table size, daylight, stroke...

  • Rigid steel H-frame construction
  • Highly stable ram guidance for demanding applications
  • DGUV/TÜV certified valves with spool monitoring - Fully CE-Compliant
  • Built-to-order, according to your process specifications and the most demanding deep drawing applications.

Hydraulic Presses for Special Applications

Servo-hydraulic and force-controlled presses for precision forming, powder compaction, precision assembly... Tailored to your manufacturing process.

  • Servo-hydraulic control & high precision linear encoders for precision metalforming
  • PC-based controller with deterministic and low cycle time for almost-instantaneous closed-loop feedback
  • High-precision press-fit & bearing assembly
  • Custom-engineered according to your process

Hydraulic Press vs. Mechanical Press: Which Do You Need?

Hydraulic pressMechanical press
Force sourceHydraulic fluid pressure (pump + cylinder)Flywheel + crank or eccentric mechanical linkage
Force through the strokeFull rated tonnage available at any point in the strokePeak force concentrated near bottom dead center
Tonnage & strokeProgrammable - adjust pressure, stroke length and speed per job on the same machineFixed by the machine's rated capacity and crank geometry
Cycle speedSlower - governed by hydraulic flow rateFaster - suited to high-volume repetitive strokes
Best suited forDeep drawing, flexible or varied part runs, thicker or harder-to-form materialHigh-speed blanking and stamping of consistent parts, long production runs

Neither type is strictly “better” - they're optimized for different production profiles. If your process is a fixed, high-volume stamping or blanking operation, a mechanical press generally gives faster cycle times at lower cost per part. If your process involves deep drawing, varies between jobs, or needs precise, programmable control over force and stroke, a hydraulic press is the more capable tool. Fresan manufactures both architectures, so this comparison is about picking the right machine for your process - see our mechanical press range alongside the hydraulic range above.

Applications & Industries

Hydraulic presses are particularly preferred when a three-dimensional component is to be manufactured from flat sheet metal in a controlled forming process, instead of welding or assembling it from multiple parts. Typical applications include:

Cookware and household goods

sinks, pots, and pans drawn from stainless steel or aluminum blanks.

Appliance manufacturing

washing machine drums, panels, and enclosures.

Automotive components

body panels, fuel tanks, and structural brackets.

HVAC and ducting

formed sheet-metal housings and transitions.

General metal fabrication

straightening, forming, and press-fit assembly work in job shops and OEM production lines.

The right press for each of these depends on part depth, material thickness and grade, and production volume - see the comparison above and the C-Frame and Deep Drawing pages for the tonnage and table-size ranges each line covers.

Hydraulic Press Terminology

  • •Daylight - The maximum open distance between ram and bed when the press is fully retracted - determines the tallest die or part that will fit.
  • •Die cushion - A secondary hydraulic system beneath the bed that applies controlled counter-pressure (blank-holder force) during deep drawing. Coordinating cushion force against ram force is what lets a deep-drawn part form without tearing or wrinkling.
  • •Deep drawing - A sheet-metal forming process that pulls a flat blank into a three-dimensional shape using a punch and die, typically under controlled blank-holder force.
  • •HMI / PLC control - Programmable control of ram position, speed, pressure, and stroke via a touch-screen interface, allowing repeatable multi-step programs.
  • •CE marking - The conformity marking indicating a machine meets the applicable EU health, safety, and environmental directives - for presses, primarily the Machinery Directive.

Engineering & Safety Standards

Every Fresan hydraulic press - C-Frame and H-Frame alike - is designed and built to meet CE marking requirements under the EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU), and EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), with electrical, hydraulic, and control components sourced from globally-recognized suppliers. Standard safety features include a dedicated safety controller, light curtains around the worktable, two-hand and foot-pedal interlocked controls, and an overpressure/safety relief valve. Every press also runs on centralized lubrication, reducing manual maintenance and keeping wear-critical components consistently lubricated. CE conformity is certified by TÜV.
